PROCESS
Recognizing the financial and potentially emotional investment of planning a garden, the client is always central to the process in each phase of development. With proper horticultural practices and an artistic eye, Scott will work with you to help define your outdoor style. At the initial in-home consultation, property use, architectural elements, site characteristics and appropriate foliage will be discussed. Moving forward, a signed design contract entitles you to a formal work estimate, design drawings, suggested plant list and site visits.
Working within your budget, each phase of development will receive the same attention-to-detail Scott lavishes on his own 1825 Victorian cottage. Once installed, Zimmer Gardens offers comprehensive maintenance programs to ensure the beauty and longevity of your growing investment.

DESIGN PHILOSOPHY
A garden must achieve at least four requirements: fulfill the client's needs, relate to the site, grow properly and excite the senses all year long. Scott is an artist working in the garden. With over 20 years experience in architecture, fine art and gardening, Scott's garden tote bag is full of inspiring ideas. A well-designed garden has the power to define a sense of place and connect on a visceral level. Scott's approach as a designer is to discover the balance between a well-tended and natural look.
